BTEC courses have been offered for many years and are widely recognised by employers and Higher Education Institutions and professional organisations. There are a NVQ level 3 qualification and provide the equivalent to 3 traditional A-levels. A BTEC National qualification is based upon a Pass, Merit and Distinction criteria.
Sixth-form students make good progress from their starting points. Progress in vocational subjects, studied by the majority of students, is consistently strong and significantly better than that typically seen nationally.
